The creature has rules. The curse has a pattern. Even the jump-scare has timing. That structure is weirdly soothing.

If you’ve ever felt calmer after a scary movie, you’re not broken—you’re tuned in. Horror gives your nervous system a safe place to spend its energy. Then it hands you the lights back.

Erie Local Events: What to Do This Weekend (and How to Make It Spooky)

Every lake deserves a monster, and Lake Erie’s is Bessie—our long-necked, wave-cut silhouette that shows up in stories like a half-remembered dream. Whether you treat Bessie as cryptid, cautionary tale, or local mascot, the legend does what good horror always does: it makes familiar water feel deep again.

GlumDrop rule: if you’re walking near the bay at dusk and the water goes suddenly still—don’t run. Just nod politely. Monsters appreciate manners.
